Description Of WorkThe Maintenance/Construction III responsibilities are to manage maintenance programs and provide maintenance to the Lillington Meat Plant. The employee in this position is responsible for the supervision of 4 inmates. This position is responsible for the management of all resources related to the maintenance of these facilities. This includes the development and implementation of preventive maintenance programs, parts inventory management, requisition of suitable parts for old/obsolete equipment, review of inmate's work; scheduling inmates work activities, writing/counseling inmates, and training as needed, utility operations and associated maintenance of the building.
This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State BenefitsNote to Current State EmployeesState employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as, or lower than, their current position. If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity. Based upon these factors, a pay increase MAY result.

- Demonstrated experience in repairing machinery.
- Demonstrated prior shilled knowledge in electricity, machinery, plumbing, refrigeration welding and cutting.
- Documented experience in operating common types of maintenance tools.
- Must have valid NC drivers license

- High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two (2) years of progressive experience in the assigned trade areas;
- or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Necessary Special QualificationMay require current certification by the Environmental Protection Agency as a Type I, II, III or Universal technician as required by Title 40, Code of Federal Regulations Part 82, Subpart F

- Per NC General Statute 143B-972.1 , applicants hired into a position certified as a criminal justice officer or justice officer are required to electronically submit fingerprints to the NC State Bureau of Investigation for a state and national criminal history record check and enrollment in the FBI’s Next Generation Identification System: Criminal Justice Record of Arrest and Prosecution Background Service (“RAP Back”) . This is in addition to submitting fingerprints during the application process.
